Organisation: Historic Coventry Trust
The City of Coventry is at the heart of England, and has a surprising amount of heritage buildings reflecting its 1,000 years of history. Coventry has ambitious plans for the future having secured the title of UK City of Culture in 2021. This provides an unprecedented opportunity to restore and showcase the Citys heritage on a national stage.
Historic Coventry Trust has agreed the transfer of a portfolio of historic properties from Coventry City Council dating from the early 1300s to the mid-1800s. Comprising 22 buildings and 4 small sites, this is the largest transfer of heritage assets from a council to a charity in the UK and a potential model for future heritage regeneration on social enterprise principles. The portfolio is varied, from Medieval Monasteries and timber framed houses to Victorian chapels and shops. The aim of the Trust is to restore the buildings for future generations, promoting education and boosting the visitor economy.
To take forward its plans, we are now seeking a Volunteer Co-ordinator to recruit and retain volunteers for Historic Coventry Trust projects. You will use and develop the skills of volunteers, providing training as required to support and promote the Trusts activities. This role will need experience of recruiting and managing volunteers, with interest in heritage and good communication and organisational skills.
This is an extremely exciting time to work at Historic Coventry Trust, where your contribution will truly leave a lasting legacy. If you have the skills and enthusiasm for this key role, then we look forward to receiving your application.
The post will be based at Charterhouse, Coventry (3 days per week) and London Road Cemetary Coventry (2 days per week).
To discuss the positions, please contact HCTs representatives Balvinder Sangha on 07739 508312 or David Thomas on 07967 172902.
