Location: Crewe, Carlisle or Motherwell
Organisation: Direct Rail Services (DRS)
Direct Rail Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). Since its formation in 1995, DRS has developed and maintained an industry leading reputation for providing safe, secure, reliable and cost-effective services within both nuclear and non-nuclear related markets.
As a profitable, dynamic business with a £80 million turnover per annum and nearly 500 employees, we are going from strength to strength. DRS has sustained and developed critical UK Nuclear transport capabilities and supported the decommissioning activities for the NDA and UK Nuclear Mission. Whilst it has diversified into other services, its raison d’etre will remain firmly focused on the transportation of specialist nuclear materials.
As Head of Business Delivery, you will lead, inspire and drive cultural change in the provision of rail services to fulfil existing and future customer and contractual requirements. Demonstrating strong management capability for a 200 strong team comprising the Control Manager, 3 Senior Regional Operations Managers, 190 nationally dispersed rail professionals and the Manager of the DRS Training School, you will oversee the management of designated customer interfaces and the delivery of all services compliant with relevant rail and nuclear industry standards.
With a significant track record of leadership and achievement in increasing performance and profitability of a comparable business, you will work as part of the senior team to identify, capture and deliver future business opportunities in line with company strategy and 5-year business plan. Providing guidance, support and advice to railway operating professionals and experts, you will demonstrate the tenacity, drive and resilience to engage and develop positive relations with regulators and trade unions.
The challenges facing DRS are numerous, but your influence, insight and judgment, will combine with your specialist expertise to add significant value to the effective delivery of our business.
