Creating a safer future by managing radioactive waste effectively, to protect people and the environment.
Waste Management Specialist
Circa £45K plus benefits
Waste Management Limited (RWM) has been established to deliver a geological
disposal facility (GDF) and provide solutions for the management of radioactive
waste. This represents a major multi-billion-pound
national infrastructure programme. RWM is a wholly-owned
subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) which is responsible
under the Energy Act 2004, for the clean-up of the UK’s publicly owned civil
nuclear legacy sites including the management of radioactive waste.
We now require a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join our existing group of Waste Management Specialists within the Waste Management Directorate, taking responsibility for assessing the disposability of proposed radioactive waste packages. As a Waste Management Specialist, you will provide waste management advice through the timely delivery of quality disposability assessments, and delivery of Waste Management solutions in support of the RWM corporate mission.
In delivering the role, you will draw on your experience of radioactive waste management practices and regulatory expectations to guide your work and engage with customers. You will also engage with and support other activities within RWM to ensure that issues arising from waste management practices are recognised and addressed. More generally, you will engage with stakeholders, customers and regulators, representing the position of RWM.
Working in this area you will play a key part in the delivery of valid decision-making encompassing the complete waste management lifecycle, including disposal. You will have a proven track record in delivering multiple parallel projects and engaging with customers to define and deliver complex, detailed programmes of work. In return, you will enjoy an important role within the organisation and the wider industry, with extensive opportunities to influence waste management practices.
