Philippe Valahu: the new Executive Director of PIDG

Infrastructure finance specialist Philippe Valahu has recently been appointed to lead the Programme Management Unit (PMU) of the Private Infrastructure Development Group.

Following an international search, Philippe Valahu was appointed to lead the PMU as Executive Director of PIDG. He has more than 20 years of international experience, within both the public and private sectors, including over 13 years working at the World Bank Group’s Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), where he was the Global Head for MIGA’s Infrastructure team.

Two years ago he set up InfraLinx, an infrastructure advisory boutique, with several associates. Philippe's experience covers project finance, structured export finance, guarantee products, and fixed income (including debt restructuring and work-outs). He has worked on transactions in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, CEE, and Asia at different times in his career.

As Executive Director, Philippe will lead on developing and implementing PIDG’s strategy and liaising with external stakeholders, as well as maintaining general oversight and accountability of the PMU’s operations.

“In its ten year history, PIDG has repeatedly demonstrated that it is possible to mobilise private sector investment in infrastructure in developing countries and the associated positive economic and development impacts. More than 97 million people in 55 countries have benefited from operational PIDG projects. I look forward to leading the team as we set ambitious targets for the future of PIDG.”
